music
…………………………
http://mixmasterajdphd.tumblr.com/
…………………………
as much as i love the visual arts (including film, of course), i always have been passionate about music.  mix master ajd phd is my blog of music compilations / ‘mixtapes’ / (video)playlists, just begun in january 2011.  but i have been both a receipient and maker of mixes since 1981!
…………………………
they have played a big part in my life, its (aural) textures, the soundtrack of daydreams and the music by which decisions (important, major, life-changing decisions no less) have been taken.  i hope to continue making - and sharing - them for years to come…

Oct. 2012 update: here are some playlists I added to Spotify:
'Answer to Yourself' (Jan. 2011): http://spoti.fi/R8Jclm

observations

http://augustjordanobservations.tumblr.com/
fran lebowitz spoke about artists and outsider, observational positions - it inspired this blog which houses my little observations: the ones too big for twitter but too small for sites holding more lengthy pieces.
art history
http://augustjordanarthistory.tumblr.com/
at 15 in autumn 1989 i made the life-changing decision to pursue art history seriously - it has become a way of life building on my life-long love of all things art, music, books, thoughts, daydreams, painting, messing, creating, etc.
this blog is just a side-line channel for sketches of ideas, unpublished review(s), transcript from my opening remarks at CAA 2013 “Art & ‘the war on terror’: 10 years on” session, and other such miscellaneous art history items not yet comprising articles of mine…

Photography
http://augustjordan.tumblr.com/

and collections ‘10 - ‘12 is another tumblr site featuring my more recent photography  (mainly from March 2011 to March 2012)
Published Chapter

"Martha Rosler’s Fighting Legions: Semiotics of the Kitchen (1975/2003) - Performance and the (Video) Document”
is the chapter I wrote for Prof. Jonathan Harris’s anthology of texts:
Dead History, Live Art? Spectacle, Subjectivity and Subversion in Visual Culture Since the 1960s
Association of Art Historians (AAH)
I have delivered papers at four AAH annual conferences:
Nottingham, 2004: "In the Place of the Public: The Psychogeography of Martha Rosler"
Bristol, 2005: "A Woman’s Work is Never Done"
Belfast, 2007: “Spectres and Spectacles: The Visual Culture of Martha Rosler”
Milton Keynes, 2012: "Stars Wars: Return of the Sixties (or why Martha Rosler brought the war home yet again"
The Art Book
I wrote multiple book reviews for the journal The Art Book (published through Blackwells / Wiley online; affliated with the [British] Association of Art Historians).  These can be found on-line.
Although The Art Book has ceased publication, the Founding and Executive Editor Sue Ward is starting, along with fellow editor Frances Follin, a new on-line arts magazine Cassone, for which I will be contributing future reviews.
